If you place your cursor over the input box, you can read in the tooltip which character you can use as a decimal point and as a thousands separator.
You can activate the settings via the settings button at the bottom right of the task pane. Then choose 'Select type' for amount and then you can enable the 'Format numbers' option. This means that if you repeat the number after the amount written out, the amount will be formatted in parentheses with thousands of separators. If you also want this for numbers, then you also repeat this for the type of numbers.
